Online trend? The excellent consumer shift on FB e-commerce.

Digital shopping is here to stay. With federal and state lockdowns and stay-at-home orders, many people worldwide or the United States were forced to shop differently. What did this affect the most? Small businesses.

Did you know that over one-third of SMBs in the U.S. never expect to open again (April State of Small Business Report)? But what good does that do for local businesses? Well, Facebook has now made it easier!

Today, people use social media as a way to discover products they might eventually buy. Instagram (owned by Facebook) is a very visual platform where many trends, fashion statements, and products get showcased every day. And now, you too can showcase your business through FB e-commerce.

This image is an overview of an Instagram Shop on social media. It includes an overview of the different steps a customer will have when selecting a certain product or service.

Is having a Facebook store worth it? Sure, why not! It's a great way to tap into new audiences, gain new customers and grow your business. This shop feature allows your business a 'storefront' - making it look like your own site allowing customers to check out directly on Facebook.

Creating a Facebook shop is free - of course, there is always a catch. If retailers process sales through existing platforms (Spotify, woo commerce, etc.), Facebook charges no transaction fees. If you don't have compatible platforms, there is a small processing fee of 5% (cheaper than Amazon or eBay).

Facebook offers thirteen campaign objectives and breaks up goals into three stages: awareness, consideration, and conversion. What do they mean? I thought you would ask.

  1. Brand Awareness: The brand awareness objective is for advertisers who want to show ads to people who are more likely to recall them.

  2. Consideration - Consideration objectives get people to start thinking about your business and look for more information about it.

  3. Conversion - The conversions objective is designed to drive valuable actions on your website, in your app or in messenger.

If you already use platforms like Shopify, Magento, or WooCommerice - the process is more straightforward. Make the most out of your Facebook e-commerce campaigns. Once you determined whether or not you want to sell directly on Facebook, check your pixel and update/modify any custom events. What are these events? They include View Content, Add to Cart, and Purchase.

While the process might seem too complicated, Facebook has a full resource library for small businesses looking to get started with this feature. Follow this link to understand the setup process: https://www.facebook.com/business/m/marketplace-ecommerce.

We hope to have gone over essential steps so you'll be able and ready to start growing your business with Facebook Shops. This feature is going to be a game-changer for small businesses if done correctly.

Remember - you don't have to do this alone, let's talk!
